Perhaps it's consecutive disconnects/dashboards. I don't think that backing out, or leaving as it is called, is a primer for probation. Perhaps in rapid succession, but I've left many games as well and have dashboarded before due to random reasons. I've not received it either other than when it was in bad shape. I'm sure we remember people getting punished for others leaving a few weeks back. It was a rampant point. Those were my only probations.
An intermittent connection could be considered similar to "pulling the plug."
